What is PET?
PET (PolyEthylene Terephthalate) is a condensation polymer produced from Terephthalate Acid (TPA) and Ethylene Glycol (EG) by polymerization process. PET Bottles are commonly used for Mineral & Distilled Water, Carbonated Drink, Food & Candy, Sauce & Juice, Edible Oil, Detergent, Pharmacy, Cosmetic, Liquor and Toy, etc.
Physical Properties

- High Tensile Strength
- Excellent Optical Clarity
- Good Gas Barrier
- Water Vapor Barrier
- High Melting Point between 243 to 270 ¢XC
- High Thermal and Thermo-Oxidative Stability

Chemical Properties

Good Resistance against many chemicals like Hydrocarbons, Chlorinated Hydrocarbons, Ketones, Eesters, concentrated Hydrochloric Acid and certain other dilute acids.

Why use PET?
PET is more superior to PVC & Glass as it is:
- Non-Toxic (Food-Grade)
- Excellent in Transparency
- Smooth in Neck Finish
- Flexibility in Design
- Better in Strength
- Easy to Handle
- Unbreakable
- Light Weight

How to make PET bottle?
PET containers are made from PET resin by injection stretch blow moulding process either in one-stage or two-stage method. Below illustrates two-stage method.

1) First Stage

Manufacture of PET Preform (Injection Moulding)

- Drying of Resin
- Injection of Resin
- Cooling of Preform
- Ejection of Finished Preform

2) Second Stage

Manufacture of PET Bottle (Reheat Stretch Blow Moulding)

- Re-heating of Preform

- Stretching of Preform

- 1st Blowing (Low Pressure) of Preform

- 2nd Blowing (High Pressure) of Preform

- Air Discharge & Cooling

- Ejection of Finished Bottle
